QIBT teacher - Barry Jurd - voted ‘Lecturer of the Year’

Our lecturer Barry Jurd was recently voted by students and peers as ‘Lecturer of the Year - 2007′, the annual online poll attracted more than 2641 nominations for the top spot and over 20,000 votes, with both University staff and students participating.  Congratulations Barry!

Barry lectures in Accounting for the QIBT Diploma of Hotel Management program and at Griffith University. In 2005 Barry was nominated three times for the GU ‘Teachers Excellence Award’. Barry’s lecturing style, broad industry knowledge and manner have positively influenced many students over the past 15 years and QIBT is proud to have him as a member of our academic staff.

Barry was a partner in Jurd Conroy & Co for 15 years, a Chartered Accounting practice servicing the hospitality industry. He also owned hotels and restaurants in Sydney before moving to the Gold Coast to develop, build and manage a resort at Terranora.

Barry has lectured in a variety of QIBT subjects since 2004 and has lectured and tutored at Griffith since 1997.
